WHO WE ARE

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is a lay Catholic organization whose mission is to live the Gospel message by serving Christ through the poor with love, respect, justice, and joy.

Members of the Society are committed to turning concern into action.

HOME VISITATION

From the very beginning and throughout the Society’s 175+ years of existence around the world, home visitations have been at the core and heart of the work of Vincentians.

Home visits are made by a pair of Vincentians to the home of a person seeking assistance from the Society; we visit and serve anyone requesting assistance, regardless of religious beliefs or affiliations, living within our parish boundaries.

People may call the Society for various types of assistance. Some may need a compassionate ear. Some may need emergency financial assistance. Others may need some information that will help them access appropriate services.

DEDICATION

Becoming a Vincentian is not for everyone as it involves a certain dedication in terms of time and commitment to participating in the meetings and activities of the Society.

•    It requires a compassionate person who sees this service as a way to act on their faith.

•    You will become directly involved in service to those in need.

•    Because we interact with vulnerable people (the elderly, the sick, children) in their homes, all our members must complete a high-risk police screening process.

•    Throughout the year we answer about 400 calls for help from local families.

•    We have a general meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of every month (except July & August).

•    We provide financial assistance to those in need throughout the year.

•    Host Bundle Up weekend semi-annually.

•    Send girls and boys from less fortunate families to camp in the Summer.

•    Assist school age children with Back-to-School assistance.

•    We host a very special Christmas event in early December where we provide an extra level of support for Christmas to those in need.

•    Our average member devotes approximately 175 hours of service to our Society each year.

Vincentian Activities:

Thank You  for your very generous support of St. Vincent de Paul throughout last year, and especially during the Christmas season. As you know, we serve families who live within our parish boundaries. In 2023, we responded with financial assistance to over 350 calls for help, and at Christmas we provided extra special assistance to 47 families. In 2023, 99.51 cents of every dollar donated was used to provide financial support to our Neighbours in Need.

Thank you again for your continued support.
